Thoughts about Neighbours: January 2018

Below is my first entry about "Neighbours" for 2018, and my thoughts about the first episodes that aired this year.

Karl and Susan were away visiting with his daughter. In other leaving town news, Sonya and Nell left went to California, as Sonya's younger sister's cancer has returned. They postponed having Nell begin full time school for this reason.

Xanthe went back to school to finish out year 12, while Sheila and Shane decided to go to night school to get diplomas, as it is never too late. Dipi convinced Clive to help out at the school, as Sheila still likes him.

Tyler and Piper were dealing with him going to prison soon. Piper took a deferment, as she got into her dream program on the Gold Coast, but couldn't be away for his last weeks of freedom. Piper put a video up about Tyler, which caused grief for both of them, as it may hurt his legal chances. To keep the news more quiet, Therese went to Tim Collins, and now win or lose Piper will do an interview once Tyler has had his day in court.

Ben and Xanthe were intimate, and it was awkward, but Gary made it worse. He decided to follow them, and then ruined Shane's work opportunity (for his urine-powered machine.) Xanthe took a job at Lassister's as a maid, though it was a job and not a career. Jimmy stole alcohol bottles from her cart.  He wanted to get a special watch to translate things for Kirsha, and Tia paid him. Paul told Jimmy to be an entrepreneur, though I doubt he wants Jimmy to be a criminal. Steph was out of town for much of the month, and Amy filled in. She hired Rory, Aaron's ex to work as an instructor at the Flametree.

Rory wanted Aaron back and did whatever he could to get David to end it. David was ready for marriage, but Aaron was not, and now Aaron and David are broken up. Paul tried to do nice things for each of his kids, though they felt like he was trying to control them. He got involved in the new wing at the hospital (for David) and a building renovation for Amy.

Jack and Paige started to get closer bonding over the son Gabe, as Mark was busy with his family woes, and Steph was away.

Mishti has to arrest Shane after he gets into a fight with Leo. Leo advised Shane to try to renegotiate, and now Shane has nothing. This situation is what caused Shane to decide to go back to school. Also, Sheila felt left out, when Dipi spent a night out with Amy and Elly (who are still having a no sex/men pact).

Those were the highlights of January 2018 on Neighbours, of course, it feels like they are going to transition some characters in and others out like they do at the beginning of each new year.
