"General Hospital" did two Christmas based episodes, which aired December 21 and 22, 2017. Below are my thoughts about them.
The first episode had a Star Wars virtual reality game advertisement, as Franco appeared playing the game, which was a present for Liz's boys. Later Liz spoke about playing the game and doing poorly, though one of her sons (who was off screen) did wonderfully. Later Franco got a letter from Betsy, where she apologized to him.
The rest of the show was about Quartermaine related issues. Monica had a full house, with childre and grandchildren in attendance. Jason got help from Joss about getting a gift for Jake, which were art supplies. Later Oscar came and he and Joss gave each other presents. Joss got him a book on Edward Q, while he made her a music mix, and found a retro CD player giving both to her. (My first thought was wow, Oscar has a computer that can burn CDs..) Oscar then went to the Q mansion to join his new family.
Jason went to see Danny, but he had gone ahead with Drew to the Quartermaines, we don't see Danny on this episode, but he's off screen playing with Annabel the second. Jason told Sam, she doesn't have to worry about Aurora media, as she can keep it as a gift.
Kim went by herself to the Qs, expecting Oscar to attend. He eventually shows up, and gets to meet his baby sister Scout. Ned was skeptical about Kim and Oscar, but Olivia wants him to keep an open mind. Oscar noticed Ned's guitar, and found out that Oscar likes to write and perform original music.
Since it is Christmas, Ned picked up the guitar, and started playing Silent Night, as the tradition from Thanksgiving of first we sing and then we eat appeared on Christmas. Sam remembered spending Christmas from Jason years earlier, though she is happy with her life now.
Joss and Jason speak, and she goes home alone, with Jason saying he will be by Sonny's home later.
The second episode featured the Corinthos characters, Kevin and Laura's wedding, and Molly and TJ's assembled family.
Sonny, Carly, and Jason gave Michael an extremely edited version of their past with AJ. Considering the meathook, and how Sonny killed AJ years later, it was a bit hypocritical. Michael's current situation with Nelle mirrors it a bit, though she wants Michael in the baby's life, unlike how Carly wanted AJ's out of Michael's world. Nelle ended up at the Corinthos house, and Jason and Nelle realized they had run into one another. Sonny made a holiday speech about their family including those no longer living.
Kevin and Laura's wedding ran into an issue, as the pastor's wife went into labor. He had to leave and no one could marry them. Maxie blamed the bad luck caused by Kevin and Laura seeing one another. Nathan didn't agree with that. Dante and Lulu were glad to be there, as was Bobbie. Unfortunately due to weather Lucky and Spencer could not make it. They had a happy surprise as Lesley arrived with her boyfriend an Italian weather chaser named Marcello. Lesley could marry Kevin and Laura, but since she married Laura and Scotty this was not a good idea. Then Lesley shared that Marcello could do it, though he only speaks Italian. He did the ceremony in his language, with Lesley translating. Laura was wearing a pretty royal blue gown. The weather got even worse, and the happy couple along with their guests had to spend the night stranded in the church.
Molly and TJ were having a Vegan Christmas, though TJ still eats meat when outside the home. The heat and then power went out, so the family left. We found out that Stella's nephew Tommy was born on Christmas, which makes the holiday harder for her, and another reason to snipe at Jordan. Alexis had to deal with her ex Julian at the bar. Ava and Griffin also arrived, and Griffin and Julian continue to argue. Molly and TJ couldn't take it anymore, and left to see if they could help at the homeless shelter. They found out they didn't have enough beds and foods. Everyone decided to help the less fortunate as the episode ended.
Considering the large size of the cast, some characters didn't appear either day. That was unfortunate, but not surprising. Usually we see children at Christmas, and while mentioned other than Jake and baby Scout, the rest were off camera. I wish they had allowed Ned to sing the second verse of "Silent Night" as he wouldn't repeat it twice. Also it was good that they allowed Monica and Olivia not to fight about food, but perhaps cook did not only traditional Q Christmas fare, but also lasagna.
