Thoughts about "The Doctors" - September 1970

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of September 1970.

Julie died from injuries sustained by her fall. No one realizes that Greta is responsible, though Matt and Maggie finally are getting a clue. Maggie discovered Greta's secret cache of things including Rico's watch fob chain, and the girl has no idea what she was talking about. It seems like Greta has a neurological problem that was caused by being bitten by a bunny. Rico was indicted for first degree murder, and Nick is on his side. The only person not even giving Rico a benefit of doubt is Mike. Even Detective Cadman wants to know the truth even if at first he felt Rico had to be the culprit. Rico's mother Stella came to visit and brought him Italian food. What is kind of amusing is that Rico's defense attorney is played by Hector Elizando (who earlier played a waiter on the program) and is still married to Carolee in real life. Nick still needed help in the lab, and Mike wanted to work there. This probably will cause problems in the future. Poor Martha being stuck in the middle of those two men.

Dan went back to Hope Memorial believing that Carolee wanted to marry him. The telegram was wrong, and she wasn't ready. Carolee realized she wanted Steve and they became close. Due to his upset over losing Julie, Steve said he wanted to be with her, but not that night. He decided to go back to work at the hospital and they would date one another exclusively. Carolee broke Dan's heart, though he still tried to be in her good graces. He was going to buy supplies for the hospital in Kuwait, and made threatening comments towards Steve. Mrs. Simpson felt that Carolee doesn't trust Steve, and that Dan is the more logical choice. One night Carolee had to work, and Steve left the hospital late. Cathy took advantage of Steve's kindness, after he took her back to her apartment. He wasn't interested, but didn't tell Carolee the whole truth about what happened with the other nurse.

Those were the highlights of September 1970. A lot of the story was about Julie's death, which is why there was less of a need for a long explanation. The Pollocks were first credited at the very end of the month. They are very well-regarded for their work at "The Doctors", so it will be interesting to see where the story goes at Hope Memorial.
