B&B Maya and Rick Want a Baby

On "The Bold and the Beautiful", Maya (Karla Mosley) and Rick (Jacob Young) want to have a child. They are newlyweds, but feel they are ready to become parents. Since Maya is transgender they cannot have a biological offspring. They decided to enlist her younger sister Nicole (Reign Edwards) below are my thoughts about this plot as of the end of October 2015.

Nicole wants to help her sister even if nearly everyone thinks she shouldn't do it. Her boyfriend Zende (Rome Flynn) wants to pursue their relationship and her having a child for her sister and brother-in-law would hurt that. They are free to travel or study and don't have expectations like other older people. There is also the issue of Nicole's age, maturity and the fact she's never had a child before. There could be an issue with attachment.

The other main issue is that Nicole and Maya's parents Vivienne (Anna Maria Horsford) and Julius (Obba Babatundé) have moved to California. Julius still doesn't completely accept Maya, but again was willing to try. Hearing what Nicole, Maya and Rick were planning freaked him out, which is understandable. Since Nicole is an adult, he cannot ban her from carrying a child for her sister, but if he could he would. Vivienne as usual tried to keep the peace.

As a viewer, I wish there would be a twist. I'd love it if Vivienne defied her husband and offered to carry her grandchild. That way Nicole wouldn't have to go through the strain of a pregnancy, and just have the surgery to remove some eggs for possible implantation. (Unfortunately, Vivienne probably has no viable eggs available or else, I wish she'd donate to Maya and Rick.) It also isn't probable that Maya would have saved some sperm prior to her transition to use to have a later biological child. If that had happened, then one of Rick's sisters could've been the potential egg donor. That way Rick and Maya could have also had a Avant/Forrester baby.

We'll see what happens as this story continues. I hope they don't take the easy way out, and it doesn't end quickly. This is something that should effect everyone and not just the Avants, Rick and Zende. Maya is a public figure as a model and the Forrester family is prominent, so I'm hoping all of it gets in the press and we see all the relevant reactions.
