Days: Death Abounds

A new serial killer has arrived in Salem on "Days of Our Lives". So far two victims have paid with their lives, below are my thoughts on the story through September 11, 2015.

Serena Mason (Melissa Archer) paid with her life as she was found dead with a tie around her neck laying in a bed of flowers. She had recently lost her money due to Nicole (Ari Zucker), and drowned her sorrows at Club TBD with Chad (Billy Flynn). He was interested in sleeping with her, but she wasn't interested. He can't recall what happened that night, though is a prime suspect. If Xander (Paul Tefler) hadn't been already in jail, he would have probably been the culprit. Xander and Serena worked together, though he blackmailed her into action. (The whole sordid tale involved them having an affair in Africa, blood diamonds in an elephant statue and holding Eric and Nicole hostage.) The act of holding them hostage is why Serena lost her funds due to the civil settlement. Xander, also owed money to Nicole, but his Uncle Victor paid up, so he owed nothing. Xander is also off the program, but didn't punch his ticket out of Salem in a body bag. Since Serena didn't really have many or any friends in Salem, the funeral wasn't even shown on screen.

Paige (True O'Brien) was also found dead with a tie around her neck on Tuesday, September 8. She had a drug dealer for a boyfriend. Kyle was murdered by his boss Clyde (James Read), but it seems unrelated at this point. Paige was estranged from her mother Eve (Kassie DePaiva) over JJ (Casey Moss) having a past affair behind her back. Paige knew that JJ was a narc. Eve also discovered this information after bugging JJ's home, and later she shared this with the criminals. Eve feels guilty that her daughter hated her, but was she responsible for Paige's death? Once we know the identity of the culprit, hopefully we'll know. Eve got consoled by Justin (Wally Kurth) and later by Marlena (Deidre Hall). Since Paige has loved ones in town, perhaps she'll have a memorial service.

As the killing spree continues, and more characters and actors leave "Days of Our Lives", I'll write new posts discussing the departures. I'm not exactly sure how many people won't make it. Since this is part of the 50th anniversary, which occurs in November, more should be imminent in the next few weeks.
