Thoughts on "The Doctors" - October 1968

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of October 1968. Due to the World Series airing during the day on NBC, there were less episodes than normal.
Nick and Althea were horrified to find out how Penny manipulated their wedding. Using her own money, she paid deposits on using the larger church, flowers and professional photography. Instead of the simple ceremony, they planned the event would be huge. Althea also had a surprise bridal shower, while Nick went out with Matt and Ed. Nick was upset over what Penny did, and nearly called off the wedding. (Unfortunately, the episode were Penny is able to convince Nick to still marry her mother Althea didn't air.)

Maggie and Matt were still united and played more of a supporting role though having a press tour through the hospital upset the Chief of Staff. Mike continued to work, and it started to get a bit better. Liz and Jody Lee had a date, but Liz acted more as a friend to Jody than a girlfriend. Carolee was disappointed it didn't work out, as she spent the night with her mother. Liz now has the job of being an aide to Phillip Townsend, who drives everyone crazy, but seems to like her.

Steve and Karen were still not getting along. He wants to be a "husband" to her, but she still isn't interested. I'm waiting for her to look more pregnant on camera.

Those were the highlights of October 1968. I know that Nick and Althea will get married soon, though the scenes where they nearly broke up for good were upsetting. If you were watching in 1968, you may have been rightfully worried that the ceremony wouldn't take place.
