Thoughts on "The Doctors" - August 1968

Another month's worth of episodes of "The Doctors" has aired on RetroTV. Below are my thoughts on what has aired for the month of August 1968.

Nick and Althea became engaged. He realized that he was happiest with her and proposed. She accepted by proposing to him again in her apartment.

Everyone found out about Steve being the father of Karen's baby as he did the right thing and told the Powers. Maggie hearing the news reconciled with Matt, but they aren't happy yet. He moved back into the house from the Remington Hotel.  Mike came home after being expelled from France for helping a student injured in a protest.

Anna Ford's surgery was a success, but Nick doesn't know if it completely cured her. Ed was against the surgery, but bowed to Anna's wishes.

Steve proposed to Karen more than once, and finally she agreed to a marriage of convenience. Karen wants separate beds and a larger apartment. These scenes mirrored Nick and Althea's happy moment and showed how different marriages can be.

Liz went out of town on a trip with her father, so we haven't been seeing her. Carolee has been helping Jody study for his high school exams so he can continue on in his dream of becoming a doctor.

Those were the highlights of August 1968. The most surprising things were that Steve used the word "abortion", and that Nick mentioned the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy. I didn't think they could use that word on an entertainment program in that era, and the other mentions were political in nature.
