While Neil was working on this beautiful home, Hilary planned to leave him for Devon (Bryton James). Of course, since Neil is so wealthy, I'm confused why he would be doing home repair work, but I digress. Earlier Devon didn't want to betray his father and planned to leave Genoa City to spare everyone pain. He said that he would stay in town if she was honest about her feelings and would leave Neil. That night, Devon had enough and decided that he wanted Hilary regardless of what it would do to Neil. While Neil is old enough to be Hilary's father, this really isn't a major plot point. The only person who was confused by Hilary's age was Neil young son Moses who thought that Hilary was the nanny.
When Neil isn't around Devon and Hilary spend time together. They try to deny their feelings, but always end up kissing. Hilary planned to tell Neil the truth about Devon and end the marriage. Devon and Hilary were upset to find out that Neil was injured. Cane (Daniel Goddard) was the only one who knew what Neil was planning for Hilary. He also knew how Devon was dealing for feelings for Hilary. He's stuck in the middle between his wife Lily's (Christel Khalil) negative feelings about Hilary and knowing what was going on between his brother-in-law and his father-in-law's wife. Sadly Neil was left blind in the accident. He has no idea that Hilary planned to leave him and even asked Devon to take care of Hilary as he felt this situation would be difficult to her.
This story has a lot of potential outcomes, but all of them would tatter the Winters family. If Hilary stays with Neil out of obligation, their relationship is doomed to fail. If Hilary goes to Devon, then it proves that Lily was right all along about Hilary's character. I also wonder if the story will eventually go into the "fake blindness" trope where Neil can see, but is lying so Hilary won't leave him.
What I want to see in this story:
- No who is the daddy scenario. Devon and Hilary cannot be hot and sexy if there is a pregnancy pillow between them.
- Neil gets involved with someone who actually cares for him and doesn't lead him back off the wagon.
- Lily gets upset at Cane over how he is protecting Devon and Hilary.
- Neil gets his vision back and when he joyfully goes to tell Hilary and Devon he finds them having sex. Fireworks occur as Neil doesn't decide to lie to make them feel guilty.
So those are my thoughts on this story so far, I tend to like plots like this one. My only wish is that Neil's blindness doesn't last too long as those kind of stories tend never to make anyone look good. I'm looking forward to seeing where this is going, but I hope that the Winters family can make it through this current turmoil.
