Soap Stars in Other Places: Pictionary

Here is a short write up about "Pictionary", the 90s game show that included celebrity guests. Unfortunately only two episodes are available online that are close to full length. They include Ali Sweeney (Sami on Days of Our Lives) and Victoria Rowell (Dru on The Young and the Restless, though they mention Diagnosis Murder, as she was doing both shows at the time.)

The person who posted the two episodes is a fan of Alison Sweeney as their YouTube page also includes additional appearances with Ali. (Some of these I'll write about at a later date depending on what else I find and whether or not there are other episodes available of the game show variety.)

The first episode is broken into two parts and unfortunately marked as "Win, Lose or Draw", but it is actually an episode of Pictionary hosted by Alan Thicke. Other than Ali and Victoria, the other celebrities are Taylor Negron and Bill Maher. The game was played with teams of three as there is a contestant on either sides, and the guys played against Ali and Victoria. This was a very close game, which kept it interesting. The second episode, which originally aired the next day has Erik Estrada playing instead of Bill Maher. The basic concept is that the celebrities and contestants have to draw to get people to say a particular word or phrase. To make it different than the earlier "Win, Lose or Draw", the phrases were linked together so there would be word in common, like boat and dock.

Unfortunately the episodes from 1997 aren't very clear, but I never saw them before so I was glad that they were shared. I miss when soap stars used to appear on game shows regularly as themselves and wonder if GSN will ever take the opportunity to include soap stars in any of their currently running shows.

Here are the links: Episode 1 - Part 1, Episode 1 - Part 2 and Episode 2. I'm surprised how few views these videos have, but I guess soap fans may not have found them even if they've been posted for two years. (I didn't find them until today, and felt the need to share my discovery.)
