B&B: Carter and Maya Become Engaged

This past week on "The Bold & the Beautiful" Carter (Lawrence St. Victor) and Maya (Karla Mosley) became engaged. Below are my thoughts on this story development.

While working together on a web series the two characters became closer. This was part of Caroline's (Linsey Godfrey) plan to break up Rick (Jacob Young) and Maya. At first, it looked like Caroline wouldn't be successful, but once Rick missed the premiere of "Room 8", Maya spent the night with Carter. Carter and Maya weren't sexually intimate, but Rick was horrified to find out that Maya lied to him about what happened. Rick foolishly fell back into bed with Caroline. Of course, Maya came to his home the next morning and found them together. This lead to their breakup and Carter was inspired to propose to her. Maya accepted his proposal, though Carter understood that his new fiance wasn't fully over her ex-boyfriend.

When it comes to this engagement I'm not really sure if it was a good idea. Usually when couples get engaged or are happy they aren't on screen. I hope this doesn't mean that Carter and Maya disappear especially since Maya quit her job at Forrester. Also if someone didn't watch their related web series "Room 8" that Lawrence and Karla produced and wrote this relationship seems very abrupt. We know the characters spent time shooting together, but Carter's feelings weren't reciprocated. So I have to wonder is this a rebound or does Maya really love Carter enough to spend the rest of her life (or at least a few years) with him?
