Here are my thoughts and a brief summary about episodes 39 & 40 (August 19, 2013) of One Life to Live.
Note: I number these without the "More episodes" included in the count. On Hulu, these are episodes 54 & 55. As these are the final two episodes of the season, I am doing the summary by segment.
Episode 39:
Segment One:
Blair says hello to extras. Nikki mentions how old farts drink a lot of champagne, but they don't tip. Rama hides when Dorian walks into Shelter, as Dorian has Cutter move her picture. Carl admires Dorian's picture, and she admits it is from 1982. Jo Sullivan and David come up to Dorian and Carl with a camera. Dorian leads Carl over to Chris, but run into Rama. Chris and Dorian have a private chat as Viki, the mistress of ceremonies is missing. Viki is outside and sees Diego. She apologizes for Clint slugging him. Viki says hello to Destiny and Jeffrey, who are officially dating. Carl and Dorian are toasting, and Viki says that Dr. Lord didn't waste any time. Natalie goes up to her Mom to ask about her Dad. We then see he is still drinking, has his glasses on his head and goes to write a check.
Segment Two:
Viki interrupts Carl and Dorian because she needs Carl for party business. Dorian asks Blair where Jack is, and his Mother has no idea. Jack is at school, as he snuck in to see his teacher Kate. They start kissing in the classroom. Carl thanks Bo for accepting the award. They all say it is about the vets. Arturo and Dani go up to Bo and Nora. He kisses Nora's hand, and wonders about the investigation about Briana. Dean tells Tea who Arturo is (guy who spoke at the memorial service for the dead girl.) Tea motions to Dani to speak with her about Arturo. Dani lied about Arturo being Briana's uncle. Michelle snarks that Dani should have been at the hospital for Drew, but she never got a call. They continue to spar in the matching dresses. Arturo comes to Dani before they come to blows. Matthew agrees that it is absurd Michelle that she would have gotten the same dress on purpose. Matthew goes up to Dani and tells her to stay away from Michelle. Jeffrey and Destiny see Dani nearly slap Matthew.
Segment Three:
Dani looks on jealously at Michelle and Matthew. Bo wants Nora to look at Destiny and Jeffrey, and a part of Bo wants Matthew and Destiny to reunite. Jo, Leo and David are hiding, so Dorian and Carl can't see they are recording them. Jo feels like this will make David look like a hero. Carl tells Dorian that he feels she was a great Senator. At the bar, they toast to us. Tea looks at Arturo and Dani, Matthew tells Tea it is a date. Matthew then explains that Arturo was Briana's sugar daddy. She runs up, gets into Arturo's face and says get your hands off of my daughter. Clint calls for his driver. Viki and Christopher discuss postponing the start of the party as people are still mingling. Then Clint still at his office says "ready or not" here I come.
Segment Four:
Tea continues to confront Arturo with Dani looking on and Dean starts to interrupt. Dani realizes that Dean is much younger than Tea too, and during this part Tea goes into Spanish. Tea and Arturo share a whisper and the scene ends. A glass is hit and Rama's voice is heard that people need to sit down. Viki begins her speech about the night's event, and Dorian's painting is up for bid. Carl gives a bid for 100,000 dollars. Nikki was bored and filling her nails, but dropped it over that amount. Throughout this we hear Viki auction items. Destiny, Jeffrey, Michelle and Matthew toast and mention Drew getting better. Natalie asks Nikki for a red beet martini. Nikki shares that Cutter has been banging her for months. Cutter goes up to Natalie and she says that the auction is almost over, but he would have time to give a "b-job to the bitch behind the bar." Viki finishes the auction, and Carl is introduced. He begins his speech. Clint goes up to Diego, and Diego looks concerned. Carl continues talking about the price that people in uniform have to pay. Blair gets upset while hearing about heroes, and Tea holds her hand. Jeffrey watches his mentor with pride. Carl asks everyone to stand to toast the veterans and say thank you. Tea tells Blair that Todd will be back, as more tears fall out of Blair's eyes. Carl stops speaking and Viki goes to introduce Bo. The scene goes back to Jack and Kate having desk sex. Natalie tells Cutter how she feels about cheating. Nikki drops the drink on Natalie intentionally, but Rama tells Natalie she will help her clean off her dress. Viki's speech is cut, but continues to speak about Bo. Clint is skulking into the party, she finishes everyone stands up and claps for Bo. Bo gets up to the stage, and then Clint walks up pushes Bo out of the way. He grabs the award trophy and starts to give a speech.
General thoughts about this episode:
The blow comment not getting bleeped shocked me. I think Tea and Arturo have chemistry, is he going to try to romance both mother and daughter? Jack and Kate having sex in school is the dream of many teenagers. While I can see Natalie being frustrated with Cutter and it would have been better if he had told her about Nikki, they weren't exclusive. At least Clint didn't take a gun to Shelter or hit his brother Bo to the ground.
Episode 40:
Segment One:
Clint starts giving a speech. Cutter and Dean go up to restrain him, but he continues talking. With the cameras going, David goes up to Clint, which upsets the older man further. He goes away from the podium and turns over some of the tables. The word bitches and e'ffing was used. Matthew wants to help, they get Clint on a stretcher. Natalie comes out of the bathroom as Nikki makes a remark about the melee. Tea tells Natalie that it is her Dad, and Natalie runs to his side as he wants to be unrestrained. The credits begin to roll.
Natalie and Matthew are upset over Nora, Viki and Bo's brand of tough love. Bo feels Clint needs to have a psych evaluation, while Viki feels they enabled him enough. Natalie feels that her father is just drunk, and will be scared if he is alone. Matthew becomes livid when Bo wants to stop him from supporting his Uncle Clint. Michelle goes with Matthew, though Dani offers to come. Cutter goes up to Natalie, but she won't have anything of it. Dorian starts to gloat about the situation, as the event was successful financially. Viki seems sad, but the veterans organization guy named Chris is glad that the money was raised even with what happened. Viki tells Jeffrey that he needs to write about the event, and that Jeffrey shouldn't bury the truth. Natalie leaves telling Cutter, that Rama was right, and her father is more important than Cutter and his little whore. Diego tells Cutter, he let Clint in because he got a check for 100,000. Kate and Jack leave the school after having sex. Nikki offers to get Blair a drink, but she says no thanks as she has a lot of work to do. Nikki tells Cutter, she has to clean up at Shelter, and he needs to take care of his own mess.
Segment Two:
Carl tells Viki that this must be hard for her. Carl asks if he can see Dorian home, and she asks what he will do with the portrait. He says he will admire it. Bo explains to Viki and Nora about what will happen to Clint at the hospital. Dean offers to drive Tea home, but she wants to talk to Dani before they leave. Arturo and Dani go to leave, and Tea follows. She tells Dani to stop, and says why did she lie about Arturo being Briana's Uncle. Tea calls him a predator and says that she would ground her if she could. Blair says it wasn't that much damage some bottles and the easel were broken. Viki asks Blair why she was so upset. Viki wants to know what kind of trouble that Todd was in that caused him to leave town. Viki says Blair can tell her anything about Todd. Cutter tells Nikki that she can't get back to work until they talk.
Segment Three:
Diego apologizes to Viki, and mentions how Clint paid him off of or else he wouldn't have gotten into Shelter. The paramedics and the nurse leave Clint after he is sedated. They are all surprised this old man is so strong. Natalie and Matthew are with a hospital official and they don't know how long it will be until they can see him. Michelle mentions what she thinks will happen to Clint, as that's what happened to her Dad. Natalie says she still wants to see her father even if he is sedated. Dani goes back to Arturo's place as she doesn't want to deal with her mother at home or the apartment due to Michelle. Arturo offers to get her another hotel room. Dani says she is confused about things, and Arturo kisses her. She says that it isn't necessary to get her another room.
Segment Four:
Michelle and Matthew are back at the apartment. Matthew wants to rewind the day, and wishes he had skipped the gala and stayed with his Uncle Clint. Michelle gives Matthew a back message. She mentions how her father walked around naked, but the story doesn't jibe with what she said before about her family. Dani and Arturo are kissing in a chair, he says he can stop. She tells him no, and he brings her to the bed. He calls her beautiful and they begin to make love. Rama leaves for the night, though Nikki stays for a moment to talk to Cutter about their relationship. Nikki apologizes for what happened tonight and they agree that they are cool. Cutter and Nikki share a kiss, but she goes after telling Cutter that Natalie will never be enough for her. Jack comes home to find Blair crying in the living room. He asks how this could be love if he makes his Mother feel awful. Blair can't share her secrets, and Jack says he is older and wiser than she thinks. Natalie and the hospital worker go to Clint's room. Natalie sees Allison beside her father's bed with a syringe after injecting Clint and starts screaming. The episode ends with Allison saying "Hello Natalie" and she laughs evilly.
General thoughts about this episode:
Once we found out that Allison and Carl were siblings, the shock of seeing her in Llanview again was dimmed. It is sad that the only people who care about Clint are Natalie and Matthew. Diego getting 100,000 was a great excuse to let Clint in, that behind said those paramedics got to the event really quickly. Was there an ambulance outside? Blair is falling apart again without Todd, it was good that Jack tried to be there for her even if he can't stand his biological father. Dani and Arturo were creepily hot, though I wonder about Dani's experience as when OLTL's ABC run ended she was yet to be sexually active.
