B&B: Katie had her Baby

This week on The Bold & The Beautiful, Katie (Heather Tom) had her baby boy. Unfortunately she went into labor early and nearly died.
Katie had a huge shock when she found her husband Bill (Don Diamont) with Deacon (Sean Kanan). Deacon was confronting Bill over his part in destroying Liam (Scott Clifton) and Hope's (Kim Matula) wedding.Without getting into details, Bill had Deacon postpone Hope's arrival to the wedding. What happened next with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Liam damaged their relationship.

Anyway, Katie lost it with Bill because she was so upset over hearing how manipulative he was over his adult son's love life. Katie was worried that Bill would do the same thing to their child. While she was saying that she would leave Bill and raise their child on her own, she started having contractions. Due to her being a heart transplant recipient, this was a high risk pregnancy.

At the hospital, Katie was kept as calm as possible. The argument that Katie and Bill had was forgotten as she was fighting to have her baby safely. Katie was willing to die to have a healthy child. Sadly after she gave birth and everything looked to be safe, she had a heart attack. At least, the baby was already out of the hospital room, when that happened, so Katie had a happy moment with her child.

Outside of the room, Hope and Liam were together bonding, and eventually Katie's sister Donna (Jennifer Gareis) joined them. Brooke wasn't answering her phone, so she had no idea about her sister's predicament. Donna and Hope shared the story of how Katie ended up with a donor heart. Flashback clips were shown with William deVry as Storm, and how he accidentally shot Katie, along with how he ended up killing himself to save her life.

When Katie was flatlining, she saw Storm. She liked the way going into the light felt, but realized she needed to stay alive for her family. Seeing Katie wake up was triumphant.

What I wonder in all of this is while Katie and Bill bonded again, the issues remain. The conflict that Katie and Bill have isn't based on a lack of devotion, love or a third party. As a viewer, I appreciate seeing a different kind of strife, not everything should be a triangle. Perhaps they will revisit these issues to accommodate Heather Tom's maternity leave.
