For the last two weeks, SoapNet aired Gold Medal Moments, which were General Hospital episodes people on Facebook voted for as the channel didn't have any new Days of Our Lives episodes they could air as it was preempted for the Olympics.
From using YouTube.com I was able to find the episodes for each of the episodes. I am going to include links so people can watch for themselves if they are like me and don't have SoapNet. Most of these come from the channel owned by LoriJoGH, so if I don't list where the video came from it came from her channel. The list of themes comes from Soapnet.com. One note this post just has a sentence and a date as I couldn't watch these episodes as they aired.
The themes for the first week (July 30-August 3) were: Best OMG Moment, Best Take Your Breath Away Moment, Best Back from the Beyond Moment, Best Wedding and Best Dramatic Moment.
Best OMG moment went to the 1/29/10 episode, in which Sonny (Maurice Benard) shot Dante (Dominic Zampronga).
Best Take Your Breath Away moment went to the 2/16/99 episode, in which Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) promised themselves to the other.
Best Back from Beyond moment went to the 10/30/06 episode, in which Laura (Genie Francis) woke up from her catatonic state with Luke (Tony Geary) by her side.
Best Wedding went to the 12/29/08 episode,in which Patrick (Jason Thompson) and Robin (Kimberly McCullough) got married. SoapNet had shown this wedding earlier this year, but I did like this wedding.
Best Dramatic moment went to the 5/21/99 episode, in which Laura became enraged over Lucky's apparent death.
The themes for the second week (August 6-10) were: Steamiest Seduction, Best Soap-tastrophe, Best Tearjerker, Hottest Supercouple and Most Memorable Moment.
Steamiest Seduction went to the the episode, in which Jason (Steve Burton) and Elizabeth had sex from August 14 or 15, 2006. I couldn't find the full episode, but merybarb has their intimate moments, click here to viewpart one.
Best Soap-tastrophe went to the 11/08/05 episode, in which the characters had been in a train crash. Ironically, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) was giving birth to Molly, who is now a lot older than 6.
Best Tearjerker went to the 5/18/94 episode, which was part of the BJ's heart story. This is when Maxie was dying and her cousin BJ got into a school bus accident making her brain dead. Bobbie (Jackie Zeman) and Tony (Brad Maule) donated their daughter's heart, which saved Maxie's life.
Hottest Supercouple went to Luke and Laura. This August 6, 1980 episode was showed back in the 1990s on Daytime to Remember. Welovesoaps.net recently linked to this episode on their site, so thanks to them and the original uploader, donna515.
Most memorable moment went to Luke and Laura's 1981 wedding from 11/17/81. I have this episode on DVD and VHS, as it has aired numerous times. This is the highest rated episode of a daytime soap opera, so it is understandable why it won.
I want to thank those who still have SoapNet for sharing the episodes that won with the rest of us.
This blog is mainly about soaps, though it will sometimes veer into other topics. The main purpose is to provide a space for when board discussion isn't enough as sometimes my thoughts and feelings take on a life of their own. Even if some of the shows I enjoy have been cancelled, I will continue to post about them. They may take away the shows, but they can't destroy the love.
